September is Georgia SHAPE Month
The Braves are teaming up with Governor Nathan Deal, the Atlanta Falcons, the Georgia Department of Public Health, and the Georgia Department of Education to promote fitness among Georgia’s youth through Georgia SHAPE.
During the 2011-2012 school year more than 500,000 elementary, middle and high school students throughout Georgia participated in the SHAPE FITNESSGRAM to measure levels of fitness including aerobic capacity, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility and body composition.
This September has been proclaimed Georgia SHAPE month by Governor Nathan Deal and at the end of the month, the Braves will honor physical education teachers from schools that successfully completed the fitness assessments. Each school will receive an award package that includes a SHAPE banner, parking sign, and a Good Sports equipment package.
